Top Priority for Congress? Money, getting re-elected, and more money.

This is an astounding video from The Young Turks. If you haven't heard of it, it's the worlds largest online news show in the world. Subscribe to their channel here. Do it now. You won't regret it.

This particularly informative video from them explains the priorities of congress. Or rather, their primary concern, which seems to be their only concern, which is, money. This video shows us how this isn't any one persons fault; in fact it tells us how many members of congress hate it themselves! But it doesn't change the fact that it's absolutely appalling to know what drives their schedules on a day to day basis, and it needs to change.

In case you don't have time to watch the whole thing, I'll break it down for you:
From the moment congress members step into their term, the majority of their time is spent fundraising, and planning for re-election the next term!

But their still fundraising right? That's good? Nope.

Their constituents, or the people they meet with to "help," are most likely going to be their donors. And not just any donors, but the biggest donors. This means that if you've got a lot of money, you've got a congressman in your pocket.

But wait, it gets better. Not only are you practically required to meet with the people who are going to give you the most money, but your also not going to win any awards for being a good samaritan. Actual past and present congress members state that the more money you get through fundraising, the higher up on the congress totem pole you'll climb. Not to mention it's practically required in order to get re-elected for the next term. Does this sound at all like democracy to you?

This is just one of the many things that proves political interests are jumping to aid the rich, superseding the needs of many.
